Strawberry Metal: This interview is with ( Nathan Daniel Evilfire - EVILTERROR ). I'm Strawberry Metal doing the interview:
Who is your band? What is your name? What do you do in the band?
We are Evilterror, a speed metal band from Bogota, Colombia, now residing in Washington DC. My name is Nathan Daniel Evilfire and I’m the Lead Guitar and Singer, and to my right, Peter Muller Steelforce, drummer and backing vocals for the band.
What year did your band get together? Are they all original members?
Nathan: Evilterror began as a band in 2003. It is now a fifteen years old project that emerged from the classical jam with friends. Evilterror had several members but always keep the original ones (Nathan and Peter). Several bass players have come and go but we are confident in finding the perfect match for our band soon.
What do you like personally about being in your band?
Peter: Evilterror is a way out of the monotonous life. But not only this idea but being able to do it and play the drums to the tunes we created. The band is my reality and I live it every. It's what I do best not only for myself but also for Evilterror.
Nathan: What I like is that I feel free to express my real love for heavy metal music. It`s my way to say everything I feel, through the lyrics, powerful and raging guitar riffs… it`s my way to approach to real heavy metal fan who keeps on supporting classic 80`s metal. Evilterror wants to revive the heavy metal golden years.
Who was your greatest influence growing up, that has gotten you into music?
Peter: The greatest influences that made me join in the heavy metal world as a musician are, basically, all stuffs created during the New Wave of British heavy Metal (NWOBHM). It is so hard to just put one band in responsible for it in front of a drummer, but my main inspirations are bands like: Judas Priest, Ostrogoth, Raven, Motorhead, Saxon, Black Sabbath and many more.
Nathan: As a musician and guitar player, my biggest influences comes from guitarplayers like Ritchie Blackmore, Tommy Iommi, Glen Tipton, and Michael Schenker. I love the NWOBHM, 80`s speed and heavy metal bands like Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, Rainbow, Raven, Running Wild, Accept, Exciter, Iron Angel, among others.
What's the funniest, or most bizarre thing that's happened in a show?
Peter: One of the funniest moment was while touring in Mexico, when a couple of friends surprised me by giving me a shower with cold beer. It was cold.
Nathan: Our whole Mexican tour was funny to me. Our made-up touring vehicle was an egg delivery truck, so we called it “La Guevera (Egg Bucket).” We arrived to all of our shows in that truck and people laugh and thought it was hilarious. In fact, it was hilarious!
Would you play shows in all parts of the world if it was paid for?
Yes, Evilterror would play shows anywhere in the world if it was paid. We would do it for free if we could, but we must make enough to travel and live. Our main goal it`s letting people know about our music, what we do and what we stand for and become part of a large heavy metal community.
Is there anything you would want to ask people on my group page?
Basically, we love to hear from heavy metal music fans. We would ask them about what our music makes them feel. We love our music and love fans loving it too.
Where are you from originally? Did you move your band to make it more successful?
We are originally from Bogota, Colombia. And we moved to the USA to record our upcoming album at Nazca Records in Alexandria, VA with the help of our manager Mario Campani. Campani has offered us to sign with the newly created Reposia Records and we are happy to do so and help our band become more successful. Reposia Records’ idea is to push the band worldwide and captivate the hearts of metal fans around the world.
What does your band name mean or where did it derive from?
Evilterror is rage, fury, and hunger for heavy metal all days. It impacts fans who enjoy and listen to our music. It`s a short name and easy to remember.
Where did you start doing shows? What have you achieved being in a band? What are your future plans?
We began playing shows in our hometown of Bogota. After that we engaged in national touring and then our first international tour in the USA and Mexico. We hold 3 full albums and 1 EP in our portfolio. Our second album titled ‘Iron Dogs’ became very popular in Japan, but we haven’t had a chance to visit our fans there yet. This is a list of our records:
- Speed Metal Rulez, Album, 2012
- The City is on Fire, EP, 2015
- Iron Dogs, Album, 2016
- High Voltage Allowed, Album, 2017
Our plans are finishing our next record which we consider to be the best record in our arsenal (we hope it could be a best heavy metal record in the books) and begin touring the USA, visiting every town we can and performing for metal fans giving them a show they can enjoy and relate to. After that, we will begin planning a world tour that will go on in stages.
How did you know each other? Who is the composer? How do you come up with songs?
Nathan: Well, Peter and I are cousins, so we know each other for a long time (lol). Usually I come up with ideas and propose them to Peter who comes up with the drum lines.
Peter: We follow one simple rule to creating a song and it is: make heavy metal song like if we’re living in the 80`s. Our lyrics are based in our daily life. We don’t talk about political issues, religion or war. We write about heavy metal and every situation of life for those who work, who love and the unloved one.
